UK authorities failed to uphold Bahraini Asylum-Seeker Rights threatened to be tortured abroad
Bahrain SALAM is deeply concerned at UK’s decision to deport Isa Haider Al Aali ,19 years, who was detained several times in Bahrain, since 2011 was targeted for his political activities and tried for three different cases. On 23rd March 2014 he was sentenced for 5 years in a sham trial.
On the 22nd of May 2014, Al Aali will be extricated to Bahrain where he will be arrested and be exposed to torture, in contravention of UK’s international obligations.
Investigations by Bahrain SALAM found that Bahrain had failed to protect individuals right to be protected from arbitrary arrests or Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, despite the continuous appeals.
Bahrain SALAM urges UK to uphold it’s international obligations on Mr. Al Aali case & suspend his deportation immediately, taking current human rights situation in bahrain into consideration.
