SALAM DHR workshop on "Tools to Support Youth Engagement in UN System" @UNGeneva @UN_HRC in 22/11/2016

The workshop highlighted the tools that youth activists require to address issues related and matter to them.
The workshop aimed to provide the youth participants with the tools they need in order to strengthen future cooperation and engagement the UN as well as ways to address their issues and concerns.
The programme included a first part on UN mechanism, laws and treaties followed by a second part on self-empowerment including tips and guidelines on public speaking and ways to tackle speech anxiety, finally the program concluded with best tips on have U.N debate.
The workshop was held on parallel with the U.N 1st forum on Democracy and rule of Law in Geneva 22nd November 2016.

The workshop presentations were delivered by
– Mr Mohammed Serkal – U.N coordinator for Salam for Democracy and Human Rights
– Miss Rouba Choker – Human Rights and International Lawyer Political and social activist
– Dr Ali Karim – Clinical Psychotherapist & Expert in using Neurolinguistic programming – Beyond Association
– Miss Loubna Yehya Lebanese media figure helps high-achieving professionals, leaders and opinion formers with their personal impact.
– Miss Mahjouba Chokri – Debating expert with MA in Media and communications – Jssor Youth Organisation

The key points discussed during the workshop were the following:
Strengthening the capacity of participants to formulate effective advocacy plan
How they can benefit from the UN mechanisms that will help them to achieve their goals.
Share working definitions of advocacy, community organizing and social justice
Give them the basic on how to become reliable channels of human rights advocacy.
Knowledge on effective Human Rights advocacy, United Nations tools and mechanisms.
