SALAM call for the immediate release of Ebrahim Sharif along with all prisoners of conscious in Bahrain

Ebrahim Sharif, former Secretary General of Waad Party in Bahrain was arrested after making a speech on 10th July at the anniversary of the martyr Hussam Al Haddad’s death- who was shot by police in August 2012. – Sherif was arrested after police surrounded his house at 2:30 this morning.
Sharif is one of the 13 political figures whom been detained in March 2011, and he was released three weeks ago having completed 4 years and 3 months of a five year sentence.
His released come after sentencing sheikh Ali Salman (alwefaq general secretary ) for four years and presumably to get positive coverage for the resumption of American arms. The Interior Minister stated Mr Sharif had “violated the law and incited hatred against the regime.”
Sharif in his speech at the anniversary of the martyr Hussam Al Haddad said “ Violence is the tactic of the State, not the Opposition which is national not sectarian.The people shouldn’t settle for the minimum when the Government isn’t serious about reform.There can be no political reform without true reconciliation. The Government accuses activists of hatred of the regime but it incites it against itself by practicing discrimination and marginalisation of the majority Shiites.” “ There can be no political reform without true reconciliation.”
Ebrahim was detained in March 2011, for “inciting hatred against the regime!” He was held in solitary for three weeks, soaked and frozen and abused verbally and physically. He was sentenced to five years for his demand along with rest of the opposition for democracy in Bahrain.
Sharif was interrogated today without his lawyer and is detained for 48 hours, we at Salam for democracy and human rights demand his immediate and unconditional release along with all prisoners of conscious and call the international community to fulfil its responsibility against human rights violations in Bahrain.
